Our client asked us to reimagine a leaking and poorly performing house from the 1980’s. Our approach was to clad the original home in standing seam copper and wrap the front of the house with a single-story stucco and glass “wing.” The glass volume juts over the sloping ground, with a garage tucked below. The house is powered by photovoltaic panels, with energy stored in a Tesla Powerwall. A dramatic six foot wide pivot hinge marks the entry. The roof cantilevers over the North and South terraces, sheltering from rain and sun. The landscape design, by Wagner Hodgson, is centered on a series of lawn terraces retained by recycled steel I beams.
